Morocco Expedition

The school’s most ambitious expedition took place in May 2026, where six Muntham House College students flew to Morocco to climb Mount Toubkal (4,167m) as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. The group’s fantastic guide, Mohamed, led the group through the valleys and Berber villages of the region, before they ascended to base camp on expedition day four. Ascent day meant a 4am alarm in order to get up for sunrise, where the group were treated to outstanding views of the Atlas Mountains. After Toubkal, two days were spent in Marrakech that included a trip to the souks, eating local cuisine and touring landmarks like the Ben Youssef Madrasa.
3 Peaks Challenge

In June 2024, eight Year 10 students were accompanied by Mr Imbert, Mr Imbert, Mr Anderson and Mr Bolton to complete the national Three Peaks Challenge. After flying to Glasgow, the group ascended Ben Nevis (1,345m) on day one of the expedition, followed by Scafell Pike (978m) two days later, and then wrapped up with Snowdon (1,085m) on day 6. For many, this was not only the first time climbing a mountain, but also staying in hostel accommodation and meeting other travellers from across the world, really getting to practice their social communication skills.
Duke of Edinburgh Award Expeditions

There have been so many excellent expeditions as part of the DofE Award, and would need a website in themselves to cover! Students have camped in the wind and rain, the blistering sun, explored vast forests, wild camped on mountains and cooled down with wild swims.
Some destinations of previous expeditions are:
South Downs National Park
New Forest
Ashdown Forest
Peak District
Snowdonia
Lake District
Biking residentials

Since 2023, the school has run mountain biking residentials. The expeditions last for two days and see students ride across the South Downs, camping or staying in a youth hostel across the South Downs Way. The groups can cover up to 50km in a day and tackle some very steep climbs! However, the trips always provide a great opportunity for exploring the South Downs National Park, practicing pro-social communication and behaviours and developing biking skills.Text
